Rameen Aminzadeh is a community organizer, activist and filmmaker with 26 years of experience as a director, editor, and producer in the entertainment industry. Being from Baltimore City, Rameen knows the challenges low income minorities face when it comes to opportunities to succeed and as a wrongfully charged, formerly incarcerated individual who faced 226 years for crimes he didn’t commit, he understands the importance of reforming our broken criminal justice system. Since his release in 2009 he has dedicated his life to fighting injustice everywhere and utilizing the arts to create paths to success for youth living in marginalized communities.
Omar Al-Chaar, President of Beats, Rhymes & Relief, is a creative producer, editor, and director of a diverse array of music videos, commercials, political ads, TV shows, documentaries, and short films for a diverse array of public & private sector clients, including the White House, Pepsico, The Discovery Channel, and the Association of Performing Arts. Through production and film, Omar works to ensure the power and effectiveness of organizational messaging through narrative tools and cutting edge design. He seeks to harness the power of film and arts at large to support global causes in an effort to bring about peace.
Michele S. Jones was the first woman in the United States Army Reserve to reach the position of command sergeant major of the U.S. Army Reserve. She was the first female non-commissioned officer to serve in the highest enlisted position of a component of the U.S. Army, active or reserve, and was the highest-ranking African American female enlisted person in any branch of the United States military. Following her retirement from the Army, the Baltimore, native continued to serve her country after appointed as a member of the Senior Executive Service from 2009 to 2012. She held several key positions, including Director of External Veterans/Military Affairs and Community Outreach for the office of President Barack Obama.
Ryan Sherr is our graphic design aficionado and web designer. A 20 year veteran of the DJ technology space and General Manager at PCDJ.com, Ryan has his finger on the pulse of the music industry. His strategic, impactful campaign designs have been used across various Beats, Rhymes & Relief community initiatives.
Beats, Rhymes & Relief believes in the importance of transparency to the communities we serve. In addition to information about our program interests and grants, financial information is available in our most recent Annual Report, including detailed financial statements about assets, grants and other expenditures.
Our most recent tax return, IRS Form 990-PF Return of Private Foundation, is available for viewing or downloading. Print copies of BRR’s most recent tax returns are available upon request. Any request for a print copy should be sent to our home office in DC. All requests will be handled within 30 days.
